**This series is not associated with the Annual Rodeo. If you want to compete in the rodeo, you must call in your entries according to the sanctioning association's (APRA/IPRA) rules.
Barrel Racing Classes:
a. Open Barrels – entry fee $15
b. Youth – entry fee $10
- 16 & under as of May 1st of the current series year
- Rollover Time - if competing in the Open class, a Youth rider can carry Open time over into the Youth class
c. Novice Youth – entry fee $5
- ** NEW: Reserved for children, *up to age 10*, with little or no experience in competition and can ride their horse/pony without assistance..
- If the Novice Youth runs a time within the competitive youth division (time falls between 1D 1st place through last paying D time) three (3) times, they must move up to Youth; their Novice Youth points will remain in Novice Youth, but their rider participation count will follow them to the youth class.
- If the rider competes in the Novice Youth class, they cannot compete in the Open or Youth classes at the same time.
** NEW: points will award a maximum of 10 points per run no matter the number of entries. Points will be awarded based on the Open and Youth point distribution noted in the full rules
- Arena fee is waived
d. Lead Line – entry fee $5
- Reserved for children who need to be lead through the pattern.
- No exhibition or practice rides.
- Once a child is able to control a horse on their own, off the lead line, they are no longer eligible for this event/class and they are eligible to move up to either the Novice Youth or Youth division. Once the rider advances, their Lead Line points will remain in Lead Line, but their rider participation count will follow them to the Novice Youth or Youth class.
- If the rider competes in the Lead Line class, they cannot compete in the Open, Youth, or Novice Youth classes at the same time.
- There will be no points awarded for this division, but runs will be recorded. The child must enter in a minimum of 8 Thursdays to qualify for year-end prizes.
- Arena fee is waived
Payouts for all Classes:
a. Open & Youth - 4D payout
b. Novice Youth & Lead-line – percentage based on # of entries; all riders who completed a qualifying time, will receive payback
Each class will have 80% payback - 100% added money when paid
Dress Code
a. Western collared shirt (long, short sleeved) or t-shirts are allowed – NO spaghetti string or tank tops shirts allowed in arena.
b. Western riding boots must have at least a 1” heel. Work boots or sneakers are not permitted while riding a horse.
c. Hats are not mandatory.
d. Helmets required per NYS Law.
FINALS - Sunday, 9/07/2024 - Added money Barrel Race
Sign up 11:30am-1pm Run ~1:30pm
1. Eligibility will be based on Rider and Horse combination.
2. Rider and Horse team must compete at a minimum of eight (8) scheduled barrel races during the May through August season to be eligible to participate in final jackpot and received year end awards.
3. If a horse needs to be substituted due to injury, a veterinary certificate must be provided. These runs will count towards the original horse/rider combination. Once the original horse is able to return to competition, their points will continue to count towards the original team and the substitute horse will begin their own attendance count.
4. Points earned in the finals will be included toward year end awards.
5. Added money to each class will be at the discretion of the Attica Rodeo & Show Association barrel racing committee.
