See some funky art, discover Tiny Doors, learn some local history, and walk through the Atlanta Beltline Arboretum, a green corridor for people, wildlife, and transit. This tour provides lovely sunsets from the Beltline as you cross over North Avenue - a bucket list item to add to your list! The tour ends at Ponce City Market where you can find great drinks, food, and access to restrooms after the tour just as the sun is setting. This summer, bring your friends and co-workers, meet new people, and join Trees Atlanta on a Sunset Arboretum Tree Tour.
About the Docent: Rich Sussman has been a volunteer Docent leading tours of the Atlanta Beltline Arboretum Eastside Trail before the concrete was finished being poured. Rich was in the first Docent Training class in 2012. Since then, Rich has become one of our most popular Docents. Rich has lead over 100 tours for Trees Atlanta and educated and delighted hundreds of people as he confidently shares horticultural and historic information about the Eastside Trail arboretum, often including interesting trivia about the Eastside’s baseball history and his expertise as a Master Gardener.
About the Atlanta Beltline Arboretum: The Atlanta Beltline Arboretum currently has 9,000 accessioned plants in its collection, with 369 unique tree and shrub species and cultivars. Eighty-eight genera of trees and shrubs are represented and identified with permanent signage. Additionally, over 500,000 non-accessioned live grasses, vines, and wildflowers have been planted within the Arboretum since 2013, along with 1,600 pounds of seeds of native plants sown in the meadow spaces.
