ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
Founded in 1954, The Chattanooga Boys Choir (CBC), is the oldest boys choir in the southeast United States. The organization is now over four times larger than its founding choir and comprised of five ensembles built from the male students at over 30 different schools in TN and northern GA. Under the direction of Artistic Director, Vincent Oakes, for the past 21 years, CBC choirs have performed all over the U.S., as well as nineteen countries around the world and offer a first-rate musical education, in addition to hosting other exceptional musical groups and taking part in bold community initiatives to support the greater Chattanooga area.
The Spivey Hall Children’s Choir Program (SHCCP), was founded in 1994 and is located on the campus of Clayton State University. Under Artistic Director, Dr. Craig Hurley, this program offers professional level vocal instruction and personal development that students carry throughout their lives. Located just south of Atlanta, the SHCCP is comprised of students from throughout the metro region in three noted ensembles - a preparatory choir (Young Artists), the large 80-voice ensemble (Children’s Choir), and a select choir (Tour Choir). They regularly perform with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and have presented concerts throughout the U.S., Europe and China.
Based at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music in Nashville, TN, The Vanderbilt Youth Choirs Program (VYC) has built a distinguished national reputation, under Artistic Director, Mary Biddlecombe. Comprised of seven different choral ensembles, including the Vanderbilt Chorister Choir, in recent years, Vanderbilt Youth Choirs have performed regularly with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and have toured both nationally and internationally throughout the U.S., Europe and Costa Rica while offering classically-based vocal training , personal development and opportunities for community engagement in and around Nashville.
