Join us around the fire on Saturday, June 7th, for an evening of rhythm, connection and community at the Lake Claire Community Land Trust's next monthly drum circle. Established in 1991, this monthly tradition is the longest running drum circle in the Atlanta area.
β°
The circle starts in the evening at 8:00pm and lasts until 11:00pm, in the outdoor amphitheater, with the majority of late arrivals flowing in around 8:45-9:15pm.
πͺπͺπΆ
All percussion and rhythm instruments are welcomed as are all experience levels. Singers may also weave their voices into the mix.
ππβοΈ
Storytellers may share short tales (less than 5 minutes) if there is space between the rhythms we create together. They may also ask instrumentalists to assist in providing an audio backdrop to these stories. Please avoid inappropriate and sensitive topics as this is a family friendly event and children may be present.
ππΊ
Dancers may use the general area of the sand circle. Flow artists with noncombustible props may use both the stage and the area in front of the stage.
π₯
Fire performers are welcomed if both a spotter and fire blanket are with them. They must also check in with the fire keeper upon arrival before performing.
π
As always, everyone is welcomed whether they choose to take part in co-creating the evening's magic or watch as it's being created.
π
The land trust is 1.5 miles from Little Five Points, located at 270 Arizona Ave NE. Nearby parking is available at the Clifton Sanctuary at 369 Connecticut Ave (0.3 miles), or the Marta Edgewood-Candler Park Station at 1422 DeKalb Ave NE (0.7 miles). Out of respect for our neighbors, please use either of these parking options after unloading and refrain from using nearby street parking. If you bike, a bicycle parking rack is also available beyond the front entrance, before the amphitheater.
π«πΊπΈ
No alcohol or drugs. No flash photography.
π΅
$5 donation requested at the land trust's gate (mobile pay option available via Venmo or PayPal).
Note:
30 minutes before the main circle is the children and family circle. While anyone is welcomed to join in at that time, focus will be on the kids and their families until the main circle at 8:00pm.
ποΈ
Although this is one of our most popular offerings to the community, we also have other events throughout the month. For information on those events, please refer to the land trust's website and socials or the bulletin board near the front entrance during your next visit.
