Join us to learn from a restoration scientist with the Missouri Botanical Garden on how ecological researchers measure the quantity and diversity of seedlings in woodland restoration projects. Andrew Kaul, PhD will demonstrate the use of a quadrat (one meter square frame), transect tape and seedling ID on the number and types of plant species occurring in a woodland plot cleared of bush honeysuckle.
After the demonstration, the volunteers will help us collect data on the target plant species using the techniques they learned in the demonstration. No previous conservation experience is needed and volunteers are encouraged to come and learn.
This is part of an ongoing conservation effort at Lower Meramec Park, so check for future opportunities!
