"At its core, this production explores what it means to be 'normal.' In a society that often tries to fit us into boxes of expectations, The Addams Family reminds us to take pride in who we are, where we come from, and the experiences that shape us. The Addams, Beinekes and Ancestors come from different worlds. Yet by the show’s end, they discover that embracing differences can bring people together rather than drive them apart. This theme is more relevant than ever – we must continue to learn from one another, celebrate our uniqueness and find love even in unexpected places."

THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCED PRODUCTION TEAM

Director: Michael Stromberg We are happy to welcome Michael back to The Talent Machine Co., where he directed our youth show, All Shook Up, in 2023. Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in musical theater from The Catholic University of America (CUA) and a master’s in education from Johns Hopkins University. He is currently a campus minister at Mt. St. Joseph High School in Catonsville, MD, and was previously the artistic director for CUA’s CenterStage Theatre Company.

Music Director: Brian Shatt We are also pleased to welcome Brian back to TMC. Brian is the director of choirs at Archbishop Spalding High School, where he conducts five choral ensembles and drama classes and teaches AP music theory. Prior to Spalding, Brian was the lead vocal teacher for the Anne Arundel County Public School’s Performing and Visual Arts Magnet Program. He has performed and conducted across the globe.

Choreography: Vicki Smith and Samantha Curbelo
Vicki is the owner and artistic director of Stageworkz Theatre Arts Project and is a highly respected choreographer, director, producer, teacher and performer. Vicki has performed across the U.S., Europe and South America, has directed and choreographed countless productions, and has been an integral part of the Anne Arundel County Public School System for 23 years, directing and choreographing musicals for Crofton Middle School, Ridgeway Elementary School and others. Many of her students have gone on to perform on Broadway, in national tours and on television.

Samantha is excited to be back at TMC to choreograph Addams Family! Sam performed with the Company from 2001 to 2013 and is on the Board as Alumni Chair and as a member of the Marketing and Community Relations committees. Sam has performed with the UnBound Dance Team at University of Maryland and at Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre, most recently in Footloose and Big Fish. Sam also choreographs at Arundel High School and Archbishop Spalding High School. Professionally, Sam is a Sports Performance Physical Therapist at Rehab 2 Perform in Waugh Chapel specializing in athletes, specifically dancers.

ABOUT OUR COMPANY

The Talent Machine, the premier theater company for children and youth of Central Maryland, has been amazing audiences of all ages for more than 35 years. We offer highly professional productions filled with talented young singers, dancers and actors. We produce four shows per year, three in the summer and our annual holiday spectacular.

Our teen show is The Addams Family, featuring performers ages 14 to 18. Our youth show is Cinderella: Enchanted Version, August 15 through 24, featuring a cast of kids ages 7 to 14. Our annual holiday spectacular -- now a family tradition for many in Central Maryland -- will be in offered December. In addition, this year we have added a special production to our schedule for the 2nd year in a row: On May 2 and 3, we will present High School Musical Jr., in partnership with The Penguin Project, a nationally recognized organization that creates opportunities for children with disabilities to perform on stage. We hope to continue to offer this opportunity in the coming years.
