Join us this week as we learn how to Air Layer! This is one not to miss.
Our club President, Paula Olesen, will be doing a hands on and classroom style demonstration on how to prepare a plant branch for Air Layering. Everyone will have a branch to work with in a comfortable spot under the shade sail to learn exactly how it's done on a branch of the living parent plant.
We also have Saturday Plants Sales with an array of heat loving plants that will produce in your gardens through the sweltering Florida summer, in limited supply.
We have heat tolerant cucumber, long beans, sweet potatoes, perennial herbs, heat tolerant sweet peppers, fruit/veg trees, and a diverse array of flowering pollinator attractors. More specifically we will have native flowers and MILKWEEDS for those who wish to start or enhance their butterfly garden.
Many of the plant starts available for sale are actively growing in our gardens right now so you will be able to see how the plant grows before you take it home.
Our plant sales are how we raise funds to operate the community garden as we are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. At current we are raising funds to help match a grant to replace our wood framed garden beds with galvanized metal Vego beds. Our goal is to make a $20,000 investment into ensuring that our community has a place to garden for the next 20 years.
Each Saturday mini-plant sale is limited inventory, so arrive early with cash or check as it is our only form of payment at this time. Either bring a checkbook, or more cash than you think you'll need. You will likely want to take home more than you might imagine!
