2025/26 Season Auditions
Scrap Paper Shakespeare will hold auditions for its 2025/26 season on a rolling basis, beginning June 20th 2025 and ending when all roles have been filled.
Our first round of in-person auditions will be held Thursday, June 25th from 7-9pm (or until 10pm by appointment) and Saturday, June 28th from 2-5pm.
- Location: 101 E Chatham St, Apex NC. Our rehearsal studio is upstairs!
- Auditionees need not attend both days, nor stay for the full time.
- Please prepare a brief (1-2 minute) classical monologue.
- Monologues do not need to be memorized, but you should be comfortable with the text. If you need monologue ideas, this website has lots of options!

Virtual submissions will be accepted through the Audition Form until all roles for the season have been cast.
* Please note that you must submit by Sunday, June 29th for consideration for Love’s Labor’s Lost.
Callbacks for Love’s Labor’s Lost will be held Monday, June 30th.
- Additional in-person audition dates may be announced based on casting needs as the season progresses.
- All roles are paid a stipend. Amounts vary based on length and scope of the contract.
- Actors must be 18 or older unless otherwise noted. Please see the show information below for specific content warnings.
- Please note that our rehearsal processes are quick, focused and rigorous. We place a high value on textual accuracy and clarity, so strong memorization skills are a must.
- We are typically able to accommodate a limited number of conflicts prior to tech week - however, because we try to schedule with respect for actors’ time, we expect that actors will come to rehearsal focused, prepared, and ready to work.

THE SHOWS
All shows will rehearse at our rehearsal studio/office at 101 E Chatham St, Apex NC.
We typically rehearse 4 weekdays (7-10pm) and 1 weekend day (1-4pm) each week.
Specific rehearsal schedules are determined based on cast availability.
LOVE’S LABOR’S LOST
Rehearsals: Begin week of July 7th.
Tech: August 4-7th
Performances: August 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th, 16th at 7:00pm; Aug 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th at 2:00pm at Shadowbox Studios in Durham.
All roles are available. Please note that actors may play multiple roles.
TITUS ANDRONICUS
Rehearsals: Begin mid-September
Tech: October 27th-30th
Performances: October 31st, November 1st, 6th, 7th, 8th at 7:00pm; Nov 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th at 2:00pm at Shadowbox Studios in Durham.
The role of Lavinia has been cast. Most actors will play multiple roles.

THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS
Workshop: Dates TBD

This is a new play, adapted from Kenneth Graham’s novel by playwright Bryson David Hoff.
We are currently looking to cast an ensemble of performers to workshop the script for our Scrap Paper Shakespeare: In Draft series; this workshop will be one week and culminate in a lightly staged reading. We will finalize the schedule based on actor availability.
The workshop cast may be asked to continue with the production for the February world premiere. Participation in the workshop is not a commitment to perform in the final show.
MUCH FEAR SHAKESPEARE
Much Fear Shakespeare is our fan-favorite, annual drunk Shakespeare fundraiser. Our job is to put on a very serious Shakespeare play - and the audience’s job is to screw us up! Actors will be faced with challenges, dares, and lots and lots of shots - all at the whims of our audience!
Much Fear Shakespeare will return in January 2026. Actors must be 21 or older and have performed in a previous Scrap Paper Shakespeare production.
Please note that because we are asking actors to drink, this is a volunteer commitment - you will be paid in free drinks and bragging rights! Rehearsals are typically limited to 1-2 Zoom read-throughs the week before the show and a brief staging walk through the day of the show.
We will cast Much Fear Shakespeare in December 2025 - but please feel free to let us know now that you are interested!
THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR
Scrap Paper Shakespeare’s 2026 Educational Tour
Rehearsals: February/March 2026
Performances: March/April/May 2026 as scheduled
We are seeking a small cast of strong character actors who love working with youth and spreading the joy of Shakespeare! Our Educational Tour performs in locations around the Triangle and includes educational pre-show programming and audience participation. These shows are offered free to the community and are designed with families and the “Bard-Curious” in mind!
