(NL)Vanaf seizoen 26-27 neemt de Nederlandse topdirigent Jaap van Zweden het stokje over van Mikko Franck als chef-dirigent van het Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Tijdens dit concert ontdek je wat deze combinatie van Hollandse kracht en Franse finesse te bieden heeft. Hun programma opent met Beethovens Eerste Pianoconcerto, een werk vol jeugdige energie, sprankelende virtuositeit en klassieke elegantie. Een kolfje naar de hand van sterpianiste Alice Sara Ott. Prokofjevs Romeo en Julia is één van de meest geliefde balletten uit de 20ste eeuw. Hierin wordt de tragische liefdeshistorie van Shakespeares beroemde koppel verteld in symfonische muziek die zowel dramatisch als hartverscheurend is. Met zijn levendige ritmes, weelderige harmonieën en scherpe contrasten schildert Prokofjev een kleurrijk palet van emoties: van tedere liefdesscènes tot de vurige confrontaties tussen de Montagues en Capulets.

(ENG)From the 26-27 season, the leading Dutch conductor Jaap van Zweden will be taking over the baton from Mikko Franck as chief conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. During this concert, you discover what this combination of Dutch power and French finesse has to offer. Their programme opens with Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1, a work brimming with youthful energy, sparkling virtuosity, and classical elegance. A perfect fit for the talented pianist Alice Sara Ott. Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet is one of the best-loved ballets of the 20th century. It recounts the tragic love story of Shakespeare’s famous couple in symphonic music that is both dramatic and heartbreaking. With its lively rhythms, opulent harmonies and sharp contrasts, Prokofiev paints a colourful palette of emotions: from tender love scenes to the fiery confrontations between the Montagues and Capulets.
