(NL)WinterFuse trapt af met twee grootheden uit de Afrikaanse muziek. Rokia Koné betovert met haar krachtige stem en meeslepende ritmes. De legendarische Bonga brengt zijn tijdloze klanken, geworteld in Angola’s geschiedenis. Een avond vol diepe verhalen en muzikaal vuurwerk.
Sinds het Afrikaanse muziekicoon Bonga terugkeerde uit zijn ballingschap, vormt zijn kritische muziek een prachtige begeleiding bij Angola’s recente geschiedenis, die gekenmerkt werd door een onafhankelijkheidsoorlog, een nieuwe start en een burgeroorlog. Na 30 albums en een carrière van 50 jaar heeft de nu 82-jarige Bonga vele levens geleid. Als atleet was hij recordhouder op de 400 meter voor Portugal, waarvan Angola toen een kolonie was. Als activist voerde hij campagne tegen de verdrukking tijdens het regime van de Portugese minister-president Salazar en voor de onafhankelijkheid van zijn geboorteland, waardoor hij uiteindelijk werd verbannen naar Nederland. In Rotterdam maakte hij kennis met de levendige Kaapverdische gemeenschap, met wie hij muziek maakte. Hij nam er ook één van de belangrijkste albums met Afrikaanse muziek aller tijden op, Angola 72.

Since the African music icon Bonga returned from his exile, his critical music has served as a stunning accompaniment to Angola's recent history, marked by a war of independence, a fresh start, and a civil war.
After 30 albums and a career spanning 50 years, the now 82-year-old Bonga has lived many lives. As an athlete, he held the record for the 400 metres for Portugal, of which Angola was then a colony. As an activist, he campaigned against the oppression during the regime of the Portuguese Prime Minister Salazar and for the independence of his homeland, which ultimately led to his banishment to the Netherlands. In Rotterdam, he got to know the vibrant Cape Verdean community, with whom he made music. There, he also recorded one of the most significant albums of African music of all time, Angola 72.
