(NL)Het nieuwe werk van Rosas verenigt twee Belgische legendes: Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker en chansonnier Jacques Brel. De choreografe creëert niet alleen een duet op de melodieën van Brel, maar danst die ook zelf, samen met de indrukwekkende opkomende danser Solal Mariotte. Mariotte is een afgestudeerde student van P.A.R.T.S, met een achtergrond in hiphop. Hij was al eerder in DE SINGEL te zien in Exit Above, de Rosasproductie op popmuziek van Meskerem Mees.
De choreografie van dit nieuwe duet is geïnspireerd op de stemmingen, gebaren en verhaallijnen die karakteristiek zijn voor het chanson, en op de unieke expressiviteit en lichamelijkheid van Brels iconische optredens. Het is een voortzetting van De Keersmaekers tweede danssolo, Once, waarin ze de hele plaat Joan Baez in Concert, Part 2 speelde, en bestudeerde welke antwoorden - in beweging, stem en gebaren - mogelijk zijn op de emoties en de kracht van muziek. Je wil niet missen hoe De Keersmaeker en Mariotte verder het potentieel onderzoeken van choreografie op liederen, in een ware ‘Ne me quitte pas de deux’.

(ENG) Rosas’ new work unites two Belgian legends: Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and chansonnier Jacques Brel. The choreographer not only creates a duet set to Brel’s melodies, but also dances it herself, together with the impressive emerging dancer Solal Mariotte. Mariotte is a graduate of P.A.R.T.S, with a background in hip-hop. He has previously appeared at DE SINGEL in Exit Above, the Rosas production featuring pop music by Meskerem Mees.
The choreography of this new duet is inspired by the moods, gestures and storylines characteristic of the chanson, and by the unique expressiveness and physicality of Brel’s iconic performances. It is a continuation of De Keersmaeker’s second dance solo, Once, in which she played the entire album Joan Baez in Concert, Part 2 , exploring the possible responses - in movement, voice and gestures - to the emotions and power of music. You will not want to miss how De Keersmaeker and Mariotte further explore the potential of choreography set to songs, in a true ‘Ne me quitte pas de deux’.
