Cost: FREE and open to all ages and abilities
Anchorage, AK – Bambino’s Baby Food, in partnership with Empowering Education, is honored to unveil a fully accessible public community garden—a space built for every child and family to grow, gather, and be nourished in every sense of the word.
On Saturday, June 21, the community is warmly invited to our kickoff garden celebration, where health, inclusion, and fun come to life in colorful, meaningful ways. This joyful event will feature:
--Planting fresh starters in beautiful, raised garden beds designed for all abilities
--A family mural project—where children can dip their hands in paint and leave palm-print flower art on the Bambino’s Baby Food Wall, blooming a mural of community love
--Planter painting stations for kids and parents to decorate together
--Healthy snacks including fresh fruits, salads, appetizers, and cooking demonstrations by Zoi Maroudas.
--Giveaways for attending families—spreading smiles, seeds, and surprises brought to you by Bambino’s Baby Food.
“Our goal is to plant more than just vegetables—we’re planting the seeds of connection, compassion, and good health,” says Zoi Maroudas, founder of Bambino’s Baby Food. “Together we strive for a healthier, positive, and supportive community in every way.”
--A welcoming place to learn, laugh, and connect with others in a vibrant outdoor space
The garden will remain open and free to the public all summer long, providing access to fresh air, healthy food, and the therapeutic joy of gardening—no matter one’s age or ability. The parking lot and sidewalk are wheelchair friendly, and the raised garden beds allow for both standing and seated gardening. Adaptive gardening tools will be available throughout the summer for public use, sponsored by AgrAbility, a USDA program that helps keep disabled agricultural workers in their chosen careers.
Thanks to support from the State of Alaska’s DoAg Micro-Grant for Food Security Program (funded by the USDA), the garden will also produce local food that can be freeze-dried and preserved for nutritious, shelf-stable meals—with direct traceability from garden to table. Huge thanks to local community members and organizations supporting this project. To contribute to the community garden with a tax deductible donation, please reach out to Annette at
