Writer-turned-comedian Kate Doyle and comedian-turned-writer Ryan Millar will lead hands-on writing exercises and offer practical tips and imaginative possibilities for giving your audience something to laugh about.
You'll write many exercises in this class and have opportunities to share what you create. We'll laugh a lot, experiment, and find out where a sense of humour can bring us.

Kate Doyle is the author of the short story collection I Meant It Once , Longlisted for the Story Prize and a finalist for the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Award, I Meant It Once was hailed as "unmistakably individual and exciting" in the Irish Times. Ryan Millar is a Canadian writer, performer and communications trainer. As an author, his works include The Confident Presenter (2023), TAKE IT EASY (2018) and the children's book Tabitha & The Jets (2025). Comedy highlights from his career include performing with Amsterdam comedy institution Boom Chicago, bringing his solo storytelling show Roman Around to the Edinburgh Fringe, and competing in the 2024 European Masters of Improvisation.
