Het Watergang Kwartet is a curious ensemble with clarinet, trumpet, trombone and double bass. They dive into the rich sounds of Eastern European folk music and bring them to life in their own way.
Their music teases the boundary until it becomes unclear. Where does classical end, and folk begin?
Their program highlights the relationship between folk and classical music, emphasising the influence these two worlds have had on each other. Next to Bartók, Schumann and Berio you'll discover some unknown tradi?onal tunes from the East of Europe such as Bulgaria, Rumania and North Macedonia.
As their instrumentation is rather unusual, they arrange their repertoire themselves and collaborate with different arrangers.
Clarinet - Salome Etter, trumpet - Gerardo Gianolio, trombone: Juan Cancer Navarro, doublebass: Roberto Sanhermelando
