The Fried Seven team up with pianist Andrew Oliver to play the music of Jelly Roll Morton at De Kring!
Weaned on classic records by King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, and others, The Fried Seven bring a youthful, virtuosic twist to their music-making that makes it all the more engaging and authentic.
If you like your jazz hot — really hot — The Fried Seven serve up some of the scorchin’-est 1920s-style jazz to be found anywhere!
Andrew Oliver is a pianist from Portland, Oregon, specializing in stride piano, 1920s jazz and blues, ragtime, and tango. His playing is energetic and authentic, drawing on the styles of
pianists such as Jelly Roll Morton, James P. Johnson, and Earl Hines to deliver a stomping style which emphasizes the exciting groove that brought jazz to the forefront of popular music in the
20th century.
Together, The Fried Seven and Andrew Oliver will be playing a string of concert dates and making a recording for Rivermont Records, in which Jelly Roll Morton is the central figure. They will bring his compositions back to concert stages, making it sound as fresh and exciting as it was a hundred years ago.
This cross-atlantic combination is something you don’t want to miss!
