Join us for the opening of , a new solo exhibition by transdisciplinary artist and researcher Ivan Henriques, on Sunday 4 May, 3pm-5pm at Zone2Source, testing ground for art and ecology in the Amstelpark.
About the exhibition
Ecoshroom is an art-science project that reimagines urban life by promoting the integration of agriculture into cities. This installation explores the relationship between plants, fungi, and technology, highlighting interspecies communication through a custom-built AI that analyzes their interactions. Visitors can engage by disposing of food leftovers in a compost basket, contributing to the installation’s cycle. The project addresses technology’s role in sustainability, climate change, and biodiversity, envisioning a harmonious coexistence between humans, plants, and fungi. Posing the question, “What if plants were the brain of the building?”, Ecoshroom suggests creating autonomous systems guided by the cognition of plants and fungi in collaboration with artificial intelligence.
