Get ready for a night of jazz & poetry on Sunday 17 August at Labyrinth, with Mireille Buldeo Rai (singer & poet) & Harold Habers (guitar). This Jazz & Poetry Sunday edition will bring you wonderful jazzy & bluesy songs, combined with poetry work of several poets about breaking up and loving again.
Mireille Buldeo Rai began singing in choirs, from classical to gospel, during her student years. Partly encouraged by colleagues, increasingly she sought her own voice. Poetry became a part of her life in 2008. Inspired by artists like the Amsterdam "punk poet" Diana Ozon, she was eager to learn what poetry could be, and the spark ignited.
Now she combines the love for jazz & poetry, and sings beautiful jazz songs, shares her poems about life, and is working on publishing her first poetry collection.
Mireille Rai will be accompanied by guitarist Harold Habers, who studied jazz guitar at the Conservatories of Zwolle and The Hague. He subsequently performed his own work with internationally renowned musicians such as bassist Harry Emmery and New York drummer Owen Hart Jr. and founded his own guitar school in Amsterdam. He is currently writing a ‘Docu’- Film-Opera’ and pieces for students and professionals, who performed his works e.g. in het Muziekgebouw aan het IJ, Amsterdam Bimhuis and het Concertgebouw.

Practicalities:
First reservations that come in, get the preferred reserved spots, as we have limited seats available close to the stage. Drinks and food can be ordered through out, but the kitchen closes around 09:00 pm.
The night will be hosted in English, but will include different languages.
