Dispatches from the American Black Film Festival (Juneteenth)

This screening is free and open to the public. Tickets are available at the box office only. They can be picked up in advance during our regular box office hours, or at the door the night of the screening.

This Juneteenth, join us for a selection of short films from the American Black Film Festival, co-curated by Jeff and Nicole Friday.

This program presents the complete roster of the 2024 HBO® Short Film Award Showcase, featuring five narratives directed by Black women showcasing stories ranging from sweet family drama to inspiring historical fiction to abstract existential mystery.

For 27 years, this showcase has launched the careers of some of today’s most successful filmmakers, including Ryan Coogler and Reinaldo Marcus Green.

Supported by a grant from the Amherst Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
