There’s something deeply satisfying about weaving your own basket from natural willow…
We are absolutely delighted to finally bring a **Willow Basket Making Workshop** to Where Inspiration Blooms — led by the brilliant and endlessly patient Jordie of Valentine and Reay.
In this full-day, beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to weave a simple handless basket (approximately 20cm wide x 12cm tall) — the perfect size for a houseplant pot holder or fruit bowl. It’s a beautifully manageable project for a day’s weaving… though you’ll quickly discover that basketry is far more skilful than it first appears!
Jordie will guide you step by step, sharing his extensive knowledge and gentle encouragement throughout. All willow will be expertly pre-soaked and prepared (a process that takes days!), and he’ll also explain how to condition and prepare willow if you’d like to continue weaving at home.
**No experience is needed**, and all materials are included.
However, please note that willow weaving does require good manual dexterity and can be tough on the fingers. If you have hand mobility concerns, do contact us before booking to make sure the class is right for you.
Expect a relaxed, focused and wonderfully grounding day of traditional craft — plus plenty of tea, coffee and homemade cake from local favourites Two Spoons to keep you fuelled. (Just bring a packed lunch.)
If you’ve been longing to try your hand at this timeless craft, this is your moment. Come weave something beautiful — and lasting.
