On Friday, September 26, through ceremonial djembe drumming, chanting, song, and dance, let us come together as women in the darkness and divine, holding each other in ceremony of drum, and song.
Lilith, the first wife of Adam in Jewish and Mesopotamian mythology, was a divine messenger in serpent form who came to awaken us through acknowledgement of darkness as the divine.
And when we can tap into the aliveness of her myth, we are bringing to life ALL parts of our expression and honoring what we may have shamed away in the past.
The ceremony begins with a descent into our inner underworld, where we set intentions, speak our truths, and ground in to the Garden of Eden through meditation. From there, we move into deep vocal and primal movement, ecstatic drumming activations, release, and remembrance of our ancient power. In the silence that follows, we listen—receiving the messages our sacred darkness has been waiting to share with us.
May we as women reconnect to our birthright as drummers and heal through deep love and the unknown of the void.
