Celebrate jazz music, America’s original beloved art form, at the Alexandria Waterfront! Enjoy live performances by some of the region’s top jazz performers, along with inspiring words by renowned poets. Plus: experience hands-on art projects, lawn games, food vendors, and drinks all afternoon. Admission is free.

The JoGo Project
Host: The JoGo Project

Info: The JoGo Project is a WAMMIE Award-winning jazz and gogo band from Washington, DC created by Saxophonist Elijah Jamal Balbed in 2014 while completing his residency at Strathmore. Now celebrating 10+ years of JoGo, the band has become a consistent force in the DMV area; having performed at Blues Alley, Kennedy Center, and DC Jazz Festival, and recently expanding to the Mid-Atlantic and Southern U.S. In 2018, JoGo made history as the first gogo band to perform in Russia on a cultural diplomacy tour on behalf of the U.S. State Department. From 2021-2023, JoGo maintained a monthly residency at the legendary jazz club Keystone Korner called #BMORELOVESGOGO, a series co-produced by club owner and NEA Jazz Master Todd Barkan. Most recently the band has expanded to new territories with The JoGo Big Band - combining elements of Go-Go Music and Big Band Jazz.

Info: Long Island’s Jeanette Berry brings an intense artistry to the music that can be felt in every track she releases. Her voice reaches into your soul and through her honesty, through her vulnerabilities she connects with her audience. The premier quality in her music cannot be overstated or ignored, Jazz, R&B, Soul, Berry can do it all. With multiple projects under her belt, the genre-bending artist has an entire discography of sounds and range of emotions to listen to. Between the Press picking up and covering Jeanette or the number of features she’s done over the course of her career, the world is catching on. As 2021 approaches, Berry has more music, content, and merchandise on the way, now’s the time to tune in to one of the generation’s most unique talents.

Fran Vielma Quartet
Host: Fran Vielma Quartet

Info: Francisco “Fran” Vielma born and raised in Mérida, Venezuela, a multicultural college town where arts are part of the daily life of its citizens. Encouraged by his mother Maritza Vielma, a music lover, he started in the musical world by singing, playing Venezuelan Cuatro, and taking core music courses at The Andes University Arts Center (CUDA).


He has toured around the continent with his start-stud Venezuelan Jazz Collective; “Tendencias,” his latest release, includes Vielma’s original works and arrangements featuring world-renown Miguel Zenón, Michael Rodríguez, and Luis Perdomo. It was included in the Best of 2018 lists by Downbeat, Latin Jazz Network, & NYC Jazz Record.


As an in-demand performer, he has shared stages around the world with John Medeski, George Garzone, Paul Winter, Simon Phillips, Antonio Sanchez, Miguel Zenón, Sean Jones, Michael Rodríguez, Mango Blue, Eguie Castrillo, Chuchito Valdés, “Los Van Van,” “Yoruba Andabo,” and Luis Enrique to name a few.

Carolyn Malachi

Info: Grammy-nominated artist, producer, and engineer Carolyn Malachi crafts a sound where jazz, contemporary, and alternative influences converge with stunning clarity. Following a transformative hiatus to welcome her first child, she returns to the stage with renewed depth, offering music that is at once critically acclaimed and profoundly human.


Known for performances that fuse emotional resonance with technical mastery, Malachi invites audiences into an intimate space where storytelling and sound intertwine. As she graces the stage at the Alexandria Jazz Festival, listeners can expect a stirring journey through her evolving artistry — a celebration of growth, resilience, and creative power.

Warren Wolf

Info: Warren Wolf is a multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore, Maryland.


Warren is an International touring musician and has performed throughout the United States of America, South America, Canada, Italy, Spain, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Scotland, London, Greece, Singapore, Thailand, Jarkata, Bangkok, Tokyo, Paris, Moscow and many other countries.


Warren has made ten recordings, most notably for Mack Ave Records. Warren is a member of the SFJAZZ Collective and Christian McBride & “Inside Straight”. Warren is a faculty member at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, MD & the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in San Francisco, CA.
