Long before our play begins, the wizard Prospero was betrayed by her evil brother Antonio and King Alonso and sent into exile. Prospero and her infant daughter Miranda were set adrift at sea, left to die. Stranded, they made a new home on an enchanted island, whose only other inhabitants are fantastical monsters and spirits.
Now, many years later, the King’s ship happens to pass by the island, carrying on board Antonio and his supporters. Prospero seizes her chance for revenge and redemption by summoning a massive tempest that shipwrecks the men aboard.
Prospero and her loyal air spirit Ariel set up a delicate plan to torment their enemies and win their freedom. Miranda falls in love with the first boy she sees: Prince Ferdinand. The half-monster Caliban teams up with a couple of drunkards and tries to rule the island. And the ensuing chaos unfolds upon the enchanted isle under the stars on a summer night…
