🎸 World Music Day Special: Rock & Blues Night with KontraBlue
After being postponed from June 14th due to the recent heartbreaking loss our city endured, KontraBlue returns to the stage this World Music Day—celebrating the power of music to heal and unite.
Blending old-school blues-rock energy with a fresh edge, KontraBlue channels the spirit of legends like Clapton, Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Satriani, and The Doors. Expect fiery guitar solos, powerhouse vocals, and extended jams that will leave you buzzing.
🎶 Meet the Band:
🎸 Mark Haydon, a native of Ahmedabad, is a blues-rock guitar veteran with over 40 years of experience as both performer and educator—formerly of MTV-featured band Hammersmith and now leading the guitar charge in KontraBlue.
Renowned for his mastery of guitar synthesizers and pedals, he also composes and records—having scored works for President Kalam’s poetry, ISRO’s Chandrayaan launch, and Mallika Sarabhai’s DEVI.
🎸 Cedric Fernandez, an Ahmedabad-based bassist, vocalist, and seasoned music educator, co-founded the iconic rock trio Hammersmith in 1983—later teaming up with Mark Haydon to create KontraBlue in 2012, and originally affiliating with Torrent before transitioning full-time to music teaching.
A dynamic presence on the blues-rock scene, he’s performed across local gigs drawing on decades of stage and studio experience to inspire students and audiences alike.
🎤 Nicolette Gore is the founder of Ahmedabad's Sunday Secret Sessions, and a vocal coach with over 25 years of professional performance and teaching experience. She’s set to release her second EP—bringing her total to 13 original music releases to date.
She’s also a multi-instrumentalist, hypnotherapist, and counselor—her stage presence has seen features on VH1’s Artist of the Month Hit Factory and collaborations with elite musicians across India.
🥁 Kaviraj Thakur, founder of Golden Staff – Guitar & Drum Classes in Ahmedabad, is a seasoned drummer, percussionist, and guitarist with decades of professional experience in performance and teaching.
A regular performer at rock gigs, he brings both classroom expertise and stage charisma to every beat.
