If you're still claiming there's "nothing to do" in Ahmedabad this weekend, we need to have a serious conversation. From bhajan jams to aerial acrobatics, French cinema to Gujarati theatre, and a flea market that's basically a mini-festival — the city's serving a full thali of events. We combed through AllEvents and pulled out the ones actually worth leaving your razai for.
Ahmedabad's in that sweet spot of Gujarati winter — the kind where evenings are genuinely pleasant and you can finally wear that jacket you bought three winters ago. Uttarayan's buzz has faded, but the city isn't slowing down. Republic Day falls on Monday, which means this is unofficially a long weekend, and Amdavadis are treating it like one.
The Flower Show at Riverfront just got extended (more on that below), Prayogshala's got back-to-back theatre, and there's enough live music and comedy happening across SG Highway to Navrangpura that your only real problem is choosing.
We've curated this list based on what's actually interesting — not just "things happening" but events worth planning your weekend around. A mix of cultural gems, good laughs, unique experiences, and yes, some solid options if your friend group can never agree on anything.
It's curated, not exhaustive. We skipped the generic and the meh.
There's a mix of vibes: music, art, comedy, theatre, family-friendly, niche-cool.
Designed for locals, but visitors can absolutely steal these ideas.

The Flower Show was supposed to end on the 22nd. It didn't. They've extended it till January 29th, which means if you've been putting this off, the universe is giving you one more weekend.
Why go: The theme this year is "Bharat Ek Gatha" and it's genuinely impressive — floral installations, themed gardens, the whole riverfront transformed into something your Instagram will thank you for. Plus, if you haven't walked the Atal Bridge yet, now's your excuse.
Who it's for: Families, couples, anyone who needs a low-effort but high-reward Sunday plan.
The details: Sabarmati Riverfront, open daily. Budget-friendly entry. Go in the evening when the lighting's on and the crowds thin out slightly.
This isn't just a flea market. Republic Flea is running all three days (24th–26th) at Twisted Roots in Bopal, with shopping stalls, food vendors, and live music every evening from 7:30 PM onwards.
Why go: It's the closest thing Ahmedabad has to a weekend festival vibe right now. Good for aimless wandering, discovering local brands, eating too much street food, and staying for the live sets.
Who it's for: Friend groups who want to "do something" but can't commit to a single plan. This has enough variety to keep everyone happy.
The details: Twisted Roots, Bopal. Free entry. Runs Friday through Sunday, but evenings are when it really comes alive.
Two French aerial companies (Yoann Bourgeois Art Company and Compagnie ISI) bring a double-bill of gravity-defying contemporary dance to Kanoria Centre for Arts. Think circus meets modern dance meets "how is that even possible."
Why go: This is genuinely rare programming for Ahmedabad — the kind of thing you'd usually need to travel to see. Part of Alliance Française's cultural calendar, and it's one performance only.
Who it's for: Art and performance lovers, anyone looking for something outside the usual comedy-or-concert binary.
The details: Saturday, 24th January, 4:30 PM. Kanoria Centre for Arts, near Gujarat University. Registration required — check with Alliance Française Ahmedabad.
A community bhajan session at Hutheesing Visual Art Centre that's less "temple programme" and more "acoustic jam with devotional vibes." It's for a cause, the venue is gorgeous, and it's a genuinely soulful way to start your weekend.
Why go: Hutheesing is one of Ahmedabad's most beautiful heritage spaces, and this is a rare chance to experience it with live music. The format is participatory — come to listen, stay to sing along.
Who it's for: Anyone who appreciates good acoustics and doesn't mind a spiritual-but-not-preachy evening.
The details: Friday, 23rd January, 6 PM onwards. Hutheesing Visual Art Centre, Shahibaug.

Manhar Seth's signature show blends heartfelt Urdu/Hindi poetry with sharp observational comedy. He's been touring this format across India, and Ahmedabad gets him on Saturday.
Why go: It's crowd-work heavy, meaning the show shifts based on who's in the room. If you've seen stand-up a hundred times and want something that feels a little different — more intimate, more lyrical — this is it.
Who it's for: Date night contenders, poetry enthusiasts, or anyone tired of the same punchline structures.
The details: Saturday, 24th January, 8 PM at HK Hall, Ashram Road. Age 12+.
Prayogshala continues being Ahmedabad's most interesting little theatre space. This weekend: Order! Order! — Truth on Trial, a courtroom drama that's sharp, talky, and exactly the kind of thing this venue does well.
Why go: If you like your theatre with tension and debate rather than song-and-dance, this is your pick. Prayogshala's intimate setup means you're practically in the courtroom.
Who it's for: Theatre nerds, people who enjoy a good argument, anyone who's ever yelled at a courtroom drama on TV.
The details: Saturday, 24th January, 8:30 PM. Prayogshala, near Shreyas Crossing.
Sunday night at Prayogshala brings Arush, a performance built around narratives of peace — quieter, more reflective, a nice counterpoint to Saturday's courtroom intensity.
Why go: Back-to-back Prayogshala shows if you're doing a theatre weekend, or a standalone pick if you want something contemplative before the work week hits.
Who it's for: Those who like their theatre thoughtful rather than loud.
The details: Sunday, 25th January, 8:30 PM. Prayogshala.
At Kalasmruti on SG Highway, OTLO is hosting an evening dedicated to Gujarati lokgeet — folk songs performed live, the kind your grandparents probably hummed but you've never heard done properly on stage.
Why go: It's a cultural deep-cut. If you care about Gujarati heritage beyond garba-once-a-year, this is the real stuff.
Who it's for: Locals who want to reconnect with regional roots, or curious visitors who want authentic Gujarat, not the tourist version.
The details: Saturday, 24th January, 7 PM. Kalasmruti by SSCC, Bodakdev (SG Highway side).
Friday evening at Stratum (Venus Grounds, near SG Highway) brings a community social dance event with European styles — think waltz, folk dances, partner dancing with instruction included.
Why go: It's beginner-friendly, social, and a legitimately fun way to spend a Friday that doesn't involve sitting at a bar. The Stratum space is nice, and these community dance events tend to attract a friendly, low-pressure crowd.
Who it's for: Couples, solo dancers who want to meet people, anyone curious about social dance but intimidated by "serious" classes.
The details: Friday, 23rd January, 6:30 PM. Stratum @ Venus Grounds, SG Highway.
A classical music baithak at TALAM featuring Sushri Rajeshwari Narsimha. If you know, you know — and if you don't, this is a proper introduction to intimate classical performance.
Why go: TALAM's baithak format is about as close to a traditional mehfil as you'll get in Ahmedabad. Small audience, serious artistry, no distractions.
Who it's for: Classical music aficionados, or anyone who wants to actually listen rather than half-watch while scrolling.
The details: Friday, 23rd January, 8 PM. TALAM, Ahmedabad.
One of the popular Gujarati comedy plays doing rounds, Mrs Mara Online Che is at Thakorbhai Desai Hall on Saturday. It's the kind of theatre Amdavadi families turn up for — broad comedy, relatable situations, plenty of laughs.
Why go: If your parents or older relatives are visiting and you need a plan everyone can enjoy, this is the safe, crowd-pleasing pick.
Who it's for: Families, Gujarati theatre fans, anyone who appreciates a good hasya natak.
The details: Saturday, 24th January. Thakorbhai Desai Hall, Law Garden area. Tickets on BookMyShow.
Sunday night stand-up at Art House India. The title (Bohot Hua Samman — roughly "Enough with the Respect") promises irreverent, no-holds-barred comedy.
Why go: Good way to end the long weekend with some laughs. Art House is a cozy venue, and Sunday 8:30 PM means you're not sacrificing your Saturday night plans.
Who it's for: Comedy regulars, people who like their humour a little edgy.
The details: Sunday, 25th January, 8:30 PM. Art House India, Ahmedabad.
Alliance Française Ahmedabad's monthly French film screening features Enfants après eux. If you're into international cinema and don't mind subtitles, this is a free/low-cost way to see something you won't find on streaming.
Why go: The Cinéclub crowd is usually small and genuinely interested — good vibes for film lovers.
Who it's for: Cinephiles, Francophiles, anyone bored of Bollywood and Hollywood both.
The details: Saturday, 24th January, 6 PM. Alliance Française d'Ahmedabad.
Shreyas Foundation Overnight Camp (Sat 24th, 5 PM onwards) — If you want to properly unplug, this one takes you outside the city for a night under the stars.
Meet Magento India 2026 (Sun 25th, 9 AM at The Forum) — Tech/e-commerce folks, this is your conference. Everyone else, ignore.
Shashi Dhiman Live (Sat 24th, 7 PM at Natrang Studio) — Another solid stand-up option if Manhar Seth is sold out.
