Scene: Imagine someone plans to come to your town or city for the first time. They are interested NOT just in ONLY in typical tourist sites. They want to get a feel for what daily life is like in your city or town. You are to be their guide.
Talking Points
1. Tell us about a favourite place in your old city or town where you might like to take a) a native of your country, b) a foreigner.
2. Tell us about a common opinion that people in your old city or town have about the place. Why do they think like that? What do they feel about outside visitors, tourists etc ?
3. What is a favourite tourist spot in you old city or town? Describe it.
4. What is something else (not just tourist spots) which your old city or town is well-known for? Tell us what you think about this personally.
5. Suppose someone wants to rent accommodation (maybe an apartment) in your old city or town. How should they go about it? What should they be careful about? What will it cost them?
6. Tell us something about the history of your city or town.
7. What kinds of public transport are available in your old city or town? How much does a taxi cost? Is it safe to drive?
8. What is the attitude of local people to police in your old city or town? If a stranger is lost, should they ask a policeman for directions? Why or why not?
9. What is the weather like in different seasons in your old city or town? How do people adapt to that? Are there any natural hazards a visitor needs to be careful about?
10. What are some things which make your old city or town a) a good place to live, and b) not such a geat place to live?
