🚨 Adelaide Group Skate x Illuminate Adelaide – City Lights Crawl 🚨
Get your skates, sequins and glow-sticks ready for a winter night like no other! We’re rolling out Saturday 5 July, 6:30 pm from Festival Plaza, gliding past ten FREE City Lights installations and two epic roaming shows.
Currently scheduled for the 5th of July depending weather conditions, maybe moved to the 12 or 19th of July
Using the best publicly-available climate records for Adelaide CBD, the odds of any measurable rain between 6 pm and 10 pm on the first Saturday in July work out to about one chance in four – roughly 25 %.
Event Details
• Emergence – step inside a mirrored circle of 14 000 LEDs and watch it echo your every move.
• A Path of Light and Time – Government House opens its gates for a hypnotic geometric projection (we may have limited access on skates and gravel paths).
• Rundle Illuminations – giant interactive light sculptures take over the East End (yes, you can play with them!).
• Illuminati (7:15-8:15 pm) – roaming disco dancers who’ll pull you into the party.
• moonGARDEN – 19 glowing spheres create a story-book dreamscape on the Museum lawns.
• Mycelium Network – fibre-optic fungi light up the grand fig tree at Adelaide Uni.
• Spring Vibes – fields of neon “flowers” blooming on Brookman Lawns.
• FierS à Cheval (8:00-8:30 pm) – towering illuminated horses prance down North Terrace.
• The Legend of the Golden Koi – shimmering tale of perseverance told in ceramics and light.
• VOICES – spin all 50 tubes and unleash a choral light symphony at Frome Rd corner.
Route: Festival Plaza → Gov House → Rundle Mall → Rundle St → Museum Lawns → Uni & Brookman Lawns → North Tce finale – around 3.5 km on smooth bitumen.
Meet-up: 6:20 pm under the big screens in Festival Plaza. Wheels roll 6:30 sharp. Can meet earlier at Victoria Square at 6pm and skate down to Festival Plaza if that works better for some.
This is a chill, no-drop cruise – skate as little or as much as you like. All levels welcome, costumes encouraged, good vibes essential. See you under the lights! 🌟🛼✨
