«The cinema I care about is at the level of poetry». Die Schottin Margaret Tait (1918–1999) zählt zu den ganz wichtigen Pionierinnen des Poetischen Experimentalfilms in Europa. « Ihre Filme sind zeitlos und sprechen direkt zu unserem Inneren. Sie sind schlicht und klar und zugleich komplex. Ihre Bilder sind einfach, nichts Besonderes, ihre Kamerabewegungen motiviert von einem inneren Impuls, oft überraschend, genauso wie ihre Art zu schneiden. Wenn wir ihre Filme sehen, bleibt etwas unerklärlich, im Geheimen, und trotzdem versteckt sie nichts», schreibt Ute Aurand, selbst Pionierin einer von Frauen geprägten Experimentalfilmbewegung im Westdeutschland der 1980er-Jahre.
