Welcome to the Ultimate Playdate! where we are making intentional time for play in community and letting our lighthearted spirits shine! Play is medicine and we would be delighted to share and spread this joy with you.
Playshop: "Nontraditional Partnering"
Facilitated by Amy Cadwallader
Date: Sunday, August 17th; 4-5:30pm
(Free play/community hang until 6:30pm)
Where: 1133 Maplewood Ave, Ypsilanti, MI
(Outdoors. Side yard. This is the residence of a friend. Plentiful neighborhood parallel parking along the streets.)
Nontraditional partnering blends concepts of partner acro, ballet partnering, and contact improvising to create unique weight shares and lifts! We will begin with a solo warmup and move our way into making contact with partners, sharing weight, and flying together. Participants need not have dance training, but some degree of body awareness is helpful.
Pre-reqs: Have a body, be able to move it! The range of athleticism in this movement form can vary widely, and we are able to adapt to whatever level each person has available. <3
Ages: 10+, minors are required to have a responsible adult with them.
Max participants: 20 (please pre-register!)
Energy Exchange: pay-what-you-can $15-$45.

Amy Cadwallader is a dancer, choreographer, pole dancer, performer, improviser, and educator currently living in Ann Arbor, MI. Amy earned an MFA in Dance at the University of Michigan, and she earned a B.S. in Mathematics Education with minors in Dance and Spanish at Purdue University. Amy’s nontraditional partnering training originated with Purdue faculty and blossomed with guest artist Bill Wade of Inlet Dance Theatre. She trained in compositional improvisation with The Architects, Lower Left, at MICI in Lancaster, PA, and at Thinking Dance in NYC.
Amy performs with Dance Uprising, Terpsichore Dance Collective, and Resonant Bodies. She has performed with The Precipitants, Detroit Circus, A2 Aviary, and as a freelancer. Amy has performed throughout Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, New York, and in Hamilton, ON. Her work has been featured in collaborative shows, mixed-bill programs, and full length evening productions.
