Nature and History Interpretive Walk of Hilton-Winn Preserve

Join YLT's Stewardship Director, Liz Walworth, on a summer morning walk of the Hilton-Winn Preserve. Participants will walk winding trails to observe a mosaic of landscapes that include extensive riparian areas, mature upland forest and historic agricultural fields and mill sites. The central feature of this walk is the Ogunquit River which serves to tie these landscapes together as it passes through the preserve. Several cultural features remain visible on the preserve including the foundations of two mill sites, numerous small quarries, a cellar hole, and Hilton Lane, a historic woods road that was established in the late 1700s. Participants will learn about the ecological significance of this land and how its features have influenced the activities of generations of settler occupants on this land.
