Folding Waves: How teaching, technology and community transformed origami

Join leading British origami creator Lee Armstrong as he explores the global history of origami - from its cultural roots in the East, its evolution and reinterpretation in the West, and the creative exchange that now defines the modern art form.

Tracing the waves of influence through pre-modern traditions to the ground-breaking pioneers and societies of the 20th century (with a special focus on the British Origami Society), Lee highlights how education, innovation and community have shaped origami into the vibrant and international art it is today.

Lee Armstrong is an origami artist known for his expressive lifelike animals, human figures and elegant abstract sculptures - all created from a single sheet of paper. Lee’s own designs have been published internationally and he shares his work online through his popular Instagram account @‌lee_armstrong_ori. In 2023 he won the Joisel artistic award (‘the Oscars of origami’).
