It is with profound sadness that I have to write this on behalf of our family. Our local angel, hero, fisherman and friend Randy Jen passed away suddenly on July 26 in the comfort and peace of his own home.
We are saddened that he departed earth so soon while also cherishing the many reunions he is now having with friends and family who have departed too.
While we are all still in disbelief and having to navigate the surreal-ness of his passing, our family is organizing an informal gathering in Yellowknife to come together while we make other arrangements for a Celebration of Life.
Please join us in person if you can on Wednesday, July 30 at the Yellowknife River. Anytime between 4:00-7:00 pm.
We will have fires and go swimming, and take the time to connect, grieve, and remember Randy together. And do some fishing, of course.
Bring your own food and beverages if you’d like to have a meal out there together. The way dad would want us to! And no drinking & driving, so arrange for a DD or have your keys put in the “no driving” key bowl.
Please bring firewood if you can. And your own camping chairs too.
Don't forget your fishing rod (and fishing license)!
This is a public event for anyone who knew and loved dad, so please join us if you can. And may the invite list grow as big as our love for him.
We hope to see as many of you as we can out there. And if you cannot attend at this time, know there will be other times to celebrate and connect in the coming weeks too.
The details of his Celebration of Life in Yellowknife will be shared soon.
