The Regenerative Arts Seed Project

Presented by Hogfish & 317 Main Community Music Center

During the Hogfish regenerative arts residency, each Hogfish artist-in-residence is invited to develop the seed of an idea that is regenerative to them personally, their community, and their neck of the woods. They are provided with time, space, and support to help cultivate the seed of their idea and to replenish the soil of their mind, body, and spirit so that their creative seed may be planted in fertile soil. Support modalities offered include nature baths, energy healing, Alexander Technique, performance enhancement hypnosis, shamanic healing, improvisation, play, voice-work, and group processing and response work.

At the end of their residency, artists are invited to present a short excerpt of their work-in-progress, on this evening titled the "Regenerative Arts Seed Project". They will share a seed of their idea to the public, followed by a facilitated Q&A with you the audience. Join us and cross-pollinate with your own viewpoint to help bring the next generation of Regenerative Arts seeds to germination!

Hogfish heals the division of our times by cultivating a new genre of Regenerative Arts - stories and artistic experiences that restore the connections between mind and body, individual and community, people and planet. To do so, we have created a 501(c)(3) non-profit production company and residency that works both from the top-down and bottom-up. From the top-down, the production company adapts classics and creates new works that center traditionally under-represented voices. From the bottom-up, the residency supports artists-in-residence to create Regenerative Arts projects from their own perspectives.

We are named after the fish with a snout like a pig that lives its life as both sexes. It surpasses our pre-conceived notions and invites us into a lived experience of the world that is authentic, bigger, and better. That is Hogfish.

For more than two decades, 317 Main Community Music Center has created spaces where self-confidence grows, friendships form, and music serves as a bridge between generations and cultures. From lessons, ensembles, and concerts, to community outreach, access, and events, 317 Main is more than a music school, venue, and intergenerational gathering place. It is a cultural hub for musical discovery and personal growth, both onsite at our downtown Yarmouth campus and throughout Maine.
