A BRIEF HISTORY OF ATCS:
The **Artist Trading Card (ATC)** movement was born from a conceptual art project in 1997. Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann created 1,200 of his own cards and held an exhibition in Zurich. At the end of the show, he invited other artists to create their own cards and trade with him. This simple idea—making art for the sole purpose of sharing it—quickly spread, first to Canada and then around the globe. The movement was designed to be a non-commercial, collaborative art form, standing in contrast to the traditional art market.
