After a 6 year hiatus, the MOMBA XC Classic is back! This is cross country mountain bike racing at the most challenging venue in the Dayton area. This event is sponsored by the Miami Valley Mountain Bike Association, www.mvmba.bike, and Five Rivers MetroParks, www.metroparks.org
This is not part of the MVMBA FASTLAPS series and thus MVMBA membership is not required. Registration fee is $30 per rider (under 18 are free) with funding supporting this event and local trails. Top 3 places in each category will be recognized after the race.
Register in webscorer pre-event (prior to 12:30) and check-in starting at noon on Sunday, 28 September. Check-in before 12:40 with a paper signed Activity Release (legible signature, verify event date, full emergency contact info). , Under 18, release must be signed by parent/legal guardian. Limited on-site registration (via webscorer) may be available but is more challenging - late registrations may not be processed due to limited web access and personnel for manual entries. Check-In and helmet required to participate.
Registering multiple riders from the same webscorer account? If you wish to register another participant or edit a registration from your account: 1) Stay Signed into webscorer, 2) Select the "Event Registration Page" button 2nd from the top on the right on the webscorer event page, 3) Select Start new registration or edit registration as appropriate, Many of the blanks will autofill when you start typing (email, emergency contact, ...).
Categories include M and F categories as follows (order shown will also be the start order, which will be wave start by category). Don't like starting behind others then move up categories, e.g.: a fast High School rider can register in Sport, bring a fat bike and register in Fatbike, or register as Advanced/Expert.
3 Full Laps(including Hawk's Lair, ~10miles and 40-70 minutes each lap):
Advanced/Expert
Fatbike - 3.8" and larger tires (can select other eligible category)
Masters 45+ (age at start of current year)
Grand Masters 60+ (age at start of current year)
Tandem
2 Full Laps(including Hawk's Lair, ~10miles and 40-70 minutes each lap):
Sport
High School - or fast juniors (if you are fast HS, you can move up to Sport or Advanced/Expert)
2 Short Course Laps(no Hawk's Lair, ~8 miles and 30-60 minutes each laps):
Grand Masters 60+ Women
Intermediate
Juniors - elementary thru middle school (too easy? join the HS category or higher!)
Note that their is no one lap beginner option (we want you to get your moneys worth and if you can ride 2 laps of MOMBA, you probably aren't a beginner!). You are welcome to stop your race after less than the specified number of laps and will be ranked accordingly behind those who finished more laps.
Really Short Course(~1.1 mile: all beginner trails, grass, and/or double track)
Kids (not up for the short course yet)
Striders/Balance Bikes (no pedals)
The MVMBA Race committee reserves the right to 'graduate' riders to other classes. Be courteous, unsafe/unsportsmanlike behavior may result in disqualification/penalties.
