Huffman Prairie Flying Field Habitat Day

Join the Greater Dayton Chapter of Pheasants & Quail Forever along with other chapters, organizations & volunteers for a productive and educational day improving habitat for HUNDREDS of native Ohio plant & animal species. We know of some quail coveys in the area (up to a 25 mile radius) that we hope will move in eventually! This site is protected by the National Parks Service & others as a "National Historic Park" and has spent the last 40 years undergoing restoration. It is maintained largely with the help of volunteers.

We will conduct a variety of tasks to encourage native plant growth and support biodiversity. This educational day will teach about the methods used to restore the prairie and how to identify the key native & invasive species in it. Kids and adults of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend! There are plenty of activities for everyone, regardless of age or physical ability. Potential tasks include gathering seeds from native plants for overseeding in other areas, targeted removal of invasive species, and assisting with selective herbicide application.

There will be door prizes for volunteers! A light breakfast, full lunch, and soft beverages will be provided. Please register to make sure we have enough to go around!
