Huffman Prairie Flying Field Habitat Day

Join the Greater Dayton Chapter of Pheasants & Quail Forever along with other chapters, organizations & volunteers for a productive and educational work day improving habitat for HUNDREDS of native plant & animal species. We know some quail coveys in the area (up to a 25 mile radius) that we hope will move in eventually! This site is protected by the state + National Parks Service as a "National Historic Park" and has been in the process of being restored for the last 40 years. It is maintained largely with the help of volunteers.

We will conduct a variety of tasks to encourage native plant growth and support biodiversity depending on need. This will be an educational day where everyone will learn to identify key native & invasive species and also explore the methods used to restore the prairie to its former glory. Kids and adults of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend! There are plenty of activities for everyone, regardless of age or physical ability. Potential tasks include gathering seeds from native plants for overseeding in other areas, targeted removal of invasive species, and assisting with selective herbicide application.

A light breakfast and full lunch will be provided for everyone involved. Please register to make sure we have enough to go around!
