Matt Mullican July 12 at 6 Performative Multimedia Lecture

A leading figure on the international art scene, Matt Mullican will present a multi-media review of his 50+ year career. A pioneer in the development of virtual reality and the use of hypnotism in art, he is a member of the Pictures Generation along with Cindy Sherman, Richard Prince and others, including the Mothership’s own Paul McMahon, who showed Matt in 1973 at Project Inc. in Cambridge.

Matt periodically gives these amazing lectures on his work. They are riveting and revelatory as Mullican is an artist of deep centrality to contemporary 'Modern' Western culture. McMahon photographed him giving one of these talks around 1980 at Franklin Furnace and blue lightning bolts that were not visible in person showed up in the photos. This talk will contain various forms of media, talking and making drawings, which will then be hung on the walls. The show of drawings will be on view 12-6pm the weekend of July 19 and 20.
