EMS Preceptor Training
Course Description:
This mandatory training is designed for all current EMS preceptors and any providers aspiring to become EMS preceptors within Shenandoah County Fire and Rescue. The course will provide a comprehensive overview of the expectations, responsibilities, and standards required to effectively guide and evaluate EMS students and new or advancing providers during their field training.
Course Objectives:
• Review the role and expectations of an EMS preceptor.
• Understand and apply Shenandoah County’s EMS Precepting Guidelines and Precepting Manuals.
• Promote consistency and professionalism in EMS education and field evaluation.
• Provide a forum for open discussion and questions regarding precepting practices.
• Ensure all preceptors understand current documentation standards, feedback protocols, and field evaluation procedures.

Cost: NONE
Prerequisites: Certified and Released EMS level provider
Registration: Required- please include the date you are attending- low enrollment results in cancelled sessions.
Attendance at one session of this training is mandatory for all current preceptors and for those seeking to serve as preceptors in the future. Failure to attend will result in ineligibility to serve as a preceptor.
To become a preceptor: Submit a letter of recommendation from your immediate supervisor or Captain/ Chief at the time of training.
