Join us on Wednesday 10 December as Alessandro Biraglia, Professor of Marketing and Behavioural Science in the Marketing Department at Leeds University Business School delivers his inaugural lecture on “Marketing in Our Lives.”
About this lecture
Marketing is everywhere. From the music we stream and the brands we wear to the causes we support and the stories we share about ourselves. In his inaugural lecture, Professor Alessandro Biraglia will explore how marketing shapes our choices, identities, and culture. Drawing on his research and examples from pop culture, creative industries, and everyday consumption, he will show how marketing influences what we value, how we connect with others, and even how we remember people after they’re gone, such as through posthumous artistic releases.
Rather than focusing on advertising or selling, this talk will reveal how marketing helps us make meaning in a complex world, and how we can engage with it more consciously as citizens and consumers. The goal is simple: to understand not just how marketing works, but why it matters in our daily lives.
