On Survivor Sunday we will pay tribute to ALL SURVIVORS, TEAM STEVE CANCER SURVIVORS and to STEVE CHASE, our ultimate survivor for over 12 years, the namesake and face of the team, and the reason it exists.
During the past 12 years he survived brain cancer with relentless determination, grace, and so much love until October 20, 2024. Over those years, in spite of his many challenges, Steve remained an inspiration to so many. He and his wife formed this team shortly after his brain cancer diagnosis (shout out to Nicole for the name), fostering it with love, intention and inclusiveness as it grew into a beautiful and amazing family, always celebrating the survivors first and foremost.
Since 2013, the team has raised $390,448 dedicated to patient care and new trial research.
This September will be our first year riding Closer to Free since inception without Steve. He was a man of incredible strength and courage and will remain so in the minds of those who knew and loved him. Team Steve will continue on with Steve in their hearts and his legacy of love and courage as their constant inspiration.
He said: "Cancer may K*ll me, but it will never win. It will never beat me." And it didn't. He never let it take his spirit, his fight, or his love away. Come out to honor Steve and that unbeatable spirit that our survivors share with him. To honor their courage, and to celebrate life!
