Be part of the first ever You Rock! program in the Illawarra, presented by Girls Rock Wollongong!
You Rock! is a music program aimed to empower girls and gender diverse young people through music. The first of its kind to be run in Wollongong, this school holiday program follows in the tradition of Girls Rock! - a national network of youth music programs that has its roots back in music programs for young women in the early 2000s.
The program will run from Tuesday 8th July to Friday 11th July at Wollongong Town Hall and is open to girls (cis and trans), trans boys, nonbinary, and intersex young people aged 12-17.
Over the course of 4 days, young people will form a band, learn a new instrument, write an original song and perform in a showcase for their fellow campers, friends and families. The campers will also attend workshops throughout the week and see musicians and bands from the Illawarra region perform each lunchtime.
The program fee is $450 per camper. This includes a camper t-shirt, all musical equipment used during the program, afternoon snacks, and a Camper Rock Pack. There are some options of financial assistance available.
