About the event

Saltwater Circles: A Community Empathy Experience
As a prelude to The Deep Roots Music Festival, you are invited to awaken your ability to listen to one another in community. This guided learning experience involves grounding practices, sharing in response to a prompt, and guided empathic listening practices. If you long to live a more open-hearted, interconnected, and authentic existence, this experience will give you a delightful taste of just that.

You will be hosted by Selah Rose and Nick LeBlanc, co-creators and facilitators who are invigorating community capacity for belonging through purposeful experiences.

We will circle together outside under the open sky and be supported by the fresh air, the birdsongs, the sturdy trees, and all of life.

Please bring a folding chair to sit on and anything else you need to support yourself while being out side.

This is a free event but registration is required.

Meet the facilitators:

Selah Rose (she/her) is a community mediator and empathy educator at Empathy Village Mediation. She helps people and groups slow down, listen with care, and plan for change with clarity and creativity. With twenty years of practice in Nonviolent Communication, Selah has supported communities in contexts ranging from shared housing and working with vulnerable populations to project development and community consultation. Living in Mi’kma’ki, she is shaped by the forest, sea, and the songs and stories of her Celtic and German ancestors. She is a grounded, honest presence that invites broad perspectives, courage and deep connection.

Nick LeBlanc (she/her) is an executive coach and founder of Sapwood Executive Excellence & Training (SWEET). She works with professionals, boards, and organizations to nurture authentic leadership and meaningful change, with a special focus on equity-deserving communities, 2SLGBTQIA+ folks, and neurodivergent leaders. Nick brings over twenty years’ experience in construction, education, consulting, and corporate leadership, along with the perspective of a trans, queer, disabled white settler living in Sipekne’katik, unceded Mi’kmaq territory. Her calm, intuitive approach helps people sink into a trusting space of exploration and problem-solving.
