7Song is a clinical herbalist, teacher, botanist and naturalist with over 40 years experience. He started the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine in Ithaca, NY in 1992 where he has been the director and primary teacher. He is one of the founders and a clinical herbalist at the Ithaca Free Clinic, which is an integrated free clinic with herbalists, doctors, nurses, acupuncturists, and other health care workers, offering both conventional and holistic modalities. Herbs for Mental and Emotional Support 10:00 -11:45 am
7Song will explore the role of herbalists and herbal medicine in helping individuals with mental and emotional health concerns, focusing on anxiety, depression, cognitive dysfunction (brain fog), and insomnia. Specific local plants will be discussed, along with treatment strategies.
Herb Walk and Plant ID with 7Song 12 – 1:30 pm
7Song will spend the afternoon exploring the farm and surrounding areas atop Gaspereau Mountain. We will look at the native and introduced plants and discuss medicinal and botanical aspects, as well as clinical uses, medicinal preparations, and other plant tidbits and anecdotes.
7Song is a botanist who spends a lot of his time keying out and photographing plants in their various habitats.
Potluck Lunch, 1:30 – 2:30 – Please bring something to share if you wish.
Herbal Street Medic/Free Clinic/Disaster Relief Class 2:30–4:30 pm
This class will look at the various ways that herbalists can help out at protests, disaster relief, and within their communities. We will cover herbs and treatment strategies for these situations, along with ways to get involved. The goal is to offer practical suggestions for these events.
