VIBRAPHONE TRIO
Paul DeFiglia, Parker James, and Anson Hohne met while performing at a free jazz concert series in Nashville in 2022 and quickly became fast friends and musical collaborators. As a trio, they rely on dynamic interplay and experimentation while upholding traditional swing and blues feels.
After first concentrating heavily on the Jobim songbook they have since expanded their repertoire to include many lesser known composers such as Sam Rivers, Alice Coltrane, Pat Metheny, and Dorothy Ashby. They also improvise on more modern tunes from Radiohead to Frank Kimbrough, as well as their own original compositions and arrangements.
PAUL DEFIGLIA is a bassist, keyboardist, producer, and audio engineer with a recording studio based in East Nashville, TN. He studied classical bass at the University of the North Carolina School of the Arts and jazz at New York University. His recording and performing credits include Irma Thomas, The Avett Brothers, Little Freddie King, Langhorne Slim, Elan Mehler and more.
PARKER JAMES is a multi-faceted percussionist, freelance vibraphonist and composer based in Nashville, TN. He holds a masters degree in music from University of Colorado, Boulder. He is a sought after performer and session musician who is at home playing across a spectrum of genres and styles from orchestral and chamber music to jazz and indie rock.
ANSON HOHNE is a drummer, percussionist, and composer in Nashville, TN. He studied jazz drum set at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. He performs regularly with jazz players and songwriters in Nashville and leads his own project, contemporary jazz ensemble The Look Aways.
CARPENTER / COHEN
Carpenter / Cohen is a duo from Asheville to Durham to Moscow to New York to Raleigh, and back. In 2022, after years of flirting with the idea, Joshua Carpenter and Finn Cohen began writing together again. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2024.
The two first met in the early 2000s, when their respective bands — Piedmont Charisma and The White Octave — crossed paths in Asheville, NC. A few years later, Carpenter joined The Nein, a band that Cohen had founded with White Octave drummer Robert Biggers, renowned visual artist Casey Burns, and former Steel Pole Bathtub bassist Dale Flattum.
𝘚𝘖𝘜𝘛𝘏𝘌𝘙𝘕 𝘐𝘋𝘐𝘖𝘔 was originally launched as an exhibition series for local visual artists, and has evolved into a concert series celebrating the diverse musical artistry of Winston-Salem musicians, past and present.
