Step up to the plate—not for baseball, but for Kubb, the classic Nordic lawn game that’s part strategy, part skill, and all fun. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll trade in bats and balls for dowels and paint as we build and decorate our own unique, handcrafted Kubb sets.
Never heard of Kubb? It’s a centuries-old Swedish game often described as a mix between bowling and horseshoes, where players toss wooden batons to knock over blocks (kubbs) and ultimately the “king” to win. It’s a backyard favorite across Scandinavia—and now, right here in Winona.
Held at the iconic Pillbox Bat Co., known for its handcrafted baseball bats, this workshop offers a playful shift from America’s pastime to one of the midwest’s finest. Learn to build all components of a traditional kubb set from pine, then utilize the Pillbox workshop and specialists on hand to engrave or paint them to make this set truly your own!
Of course, we've made time to ensure a few rounds of competitive kubb throughout the weekend! You’ll leave not only with your own one-of-a-kind game set, but with a new way to enjoy the sunshine with friends and family for years to come.
All materials provided. No woodworking experience necessary—just bring your creativity and a spirit of play!
