Please join us for a free public talk, "Exploring the Buzz in the Grass: A Look at Ojibway's Bees" by Dr. Steven Paiero, University of Guelph, School of Environmental Sciences

The Ojibway Prairie complex has one of the most well documented insect faunas of Canada, but work still needs to be done to properly document some specific insect groups. Surprisingly, bees (Apoidea: Anthophila) are one of these groups. Steve will be talking about the ongoing efforts to document the bees of the area, along with the various projects that have contributed to our understanding of the fauna. He will lead us on an exploration of the diversity of these charismatic insects, including a look at each group and their respective natural history. If you have ever wondered how many species are there (hint: it's more than just honey and bumbles) or all the different things bees might do, then come join us to find out!
