About the event

Sunset Performance Series: Living Rhythms
Join us for our Sunset Performance Series featuring the cultural arts company Living Rhythms, a dynamic evening of West African drumming and dance. For over 23 years, Living Rhythms has brought hands-on cultural arts programs to over 280,000 students across the U.S. Through this high-energy performance, seasoned artist-educators Greg and Dakarai Ince share rhythms, songs, and dances that represent the traditions of several African ethnic groups, emphasizing the values of respect, community, and teamwork.

The performance begins with a captivating entrance and continues with opportunities for the audience to sing, clap, and dance along to the powerful sounds of djembe and dunun drums. The show culminates in inviting audience members to participate on stage alongside the artists, creating a shared experience that is joyful, educational, and transformative.

At PNC USCT Park, on CAM grounds | FREE; $5 Suggested Donation

About the Artists:

Dakarai Ince has been immersed in West African drumming and dance since the age of three. He has led performances, lectures, and workshops across the country, bringing his engaging, interactive teaching style to students of all ages. Inspired by his mentors—including his father Greg Ince—Dakarai is committed to making African drumming accessible and exciting.

Greg Ince, a passionate educator and percussionist, has over three decades of experience teaching African drumming and dance. A native of Brooklyn, NY, with Cuban and Panamanian heritage, Greg studied under masters such as Papa Ladji Camara and Mamady Keita. He has performed with notable companies including Alvin Ailey, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and the Chuck Davis African American Dance Ensemble.

The Sunset Performance Series features performances that connect art and social justice, held outdoors on the museum grounds by the Boundless sculpture by Stephen Hayes. This program is free for the community, with a suggested donation of $5.
