ABOUT DUKE ROBILLARD:
Duke Robillard is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter, celebrated for his exceptional skill in blues, jazz, and roots music. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, on November 4, 1948, Robillard began playing guitar at a young age, drawing inspiration from artists like B.B. King, T-Bone Walker, and jazz musicians such as Wes Montgomery. His diverse musical influences helped shape a unique style blending elements of blues, swing, jazz, and rock. Robillard's career spans over five decades, and he has become a respected figure in the music world, earning numerous accolades, including multiple Blues Music Awards.
In the early stages of his career, Robillard gained recognition as a founding member of the Roomful of Blues, a Rhode Island-based band that helped revitalize the jump blues and swing music scenes in the 1970s. His exceptional guitar playing and vocal talent contributed to the band's success, earning them critical acclaim and a loyal following. Robillard’s work with Roomful of Blues, which included several albums and tours, established him as a key figure in the modern blues revival. After leaving the band in the late '80s, he launched a solo career, further cementing his reputation with a series of well-received albums that showcased his versatility and mastery of various genres.
Over the years, Robillard has collaborated with numerous legendary artists, including Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, and Dr. John.
