Plant Pressing: Workshop with Recycled Materials

Join us for a special Life of the Boreal hands-on activity as part of the City of Whitehorse’s Fridays in the Park! Juliette Belisle Greetham will lead a workshop where you'll make and start using your own plant press. We’ll take a short walk to identify and ethically collect local plants, and share how plant pressing is all about celebrating and preserving natural beauty. Using recycled materials, you’ll build your own plant press and take home a new way to connect with the boreal forest.

Our Life of the Boreal walk and talk series explores the edible, medicinal, native, & introduced species of the boreal, featuring special guests. As we walk through the woods, we’ll chat about different wildlife and plants, their characteristics, habitat, and history. Stay tuned for more walks!

Who can attend: Everyone is welcome - adults, kids, and families. Register for reminders, or drop in!

What to bring: All supplies will be provided. Please dress appropriately for being outside. We recommend bringing layers, water-resistant walking shoes, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and a water bottle.

About Juliette: Juliette Belisle Greetham is a Yukon-based artist, environmental advocate, and the founder of Juliette Botanicals, a project that celebrates the beauty of local flora through pressed botanical art and workshops. She is passionate about connecting people—especially youth—to the land through creative, hands-on experiences that foster appreciation for the natural world and support conservation efforts.
