Advent Lessons and Carols

Join us for a beautiful evening service of Advent Lessons and Carols.

The season of Advent is traditionally a time of preparation for Christmas, and its observance dates from the sixth century in Gaul.

Our Advent carol service serves not to celebrate Christmas, but to expect it through a series of Lessons and Carols that herald the Advent of Our Saviour. The lessons will recall the coming of Jesus as the infant child in Bethlehem and will also exhort the peoples of the earth to prepare for his coming as King and Judge on the last day.

The service followed is that used on Advent Sunday at Trinity College, Cambridge.
