Join Riffs Hooks and Lines for our monthly slot at the beautiful Eighteen91, Whitby. We present a spectacular evening of music from the Esk Valley Big Band.
Esk Valley Big Band belongs to Whitby Music Centre and is well-known throughout the Whitby area for its full complement of trumpets, trombones and saxophones supported by a strong rhythm section. It welcomes players who are at Associated Board Grade 4 standard and above. It performs big band repertoire from forties’ music through to contemporary pieces. Since 2007, the EVBB has been a popular feature at many events around the town and keeps a busy diary of bookings.

Pop Choir rehearses on Monday evenings under the expert baton of Helena Swain. The choir launched in November and made its debut performances during WMC Christmas concert season.The musical, personal and social benefits of singing in a choir are well-known and currently being enjoyed by almost 3 million people in the UK. WMC are proud to bring all this to the doorstep of people in and around Whitby with their exciting new pop choir open to local children, young people and adults. If you’re still wondering if singing in a choir is for you, WMC has shared research, recently published on Oxford University’s website by Jacques Launay, one of their PhD psychologists.
